Associate Professor, Department of Accounting and Finance

It has often been said that an accountant is paid for his judgment, not for his technical ability”, Zug (1951) Journal of Accountancy

Welcome to my personal webpage. I am an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Macedonia. My main research interests concern financial reporting and International Financial Reporting Standards, information content relevance, reliability of accounting data, aggregated accounting information and their relation to the macroeconomy, risk measurement using accounting information, as well as the quality of audit. My recent research examines the informational content of the notes of financial statements using textual analysis methods, as well as network analysis on accounting data in order to explain stock crash risk in the banking sector. Moreover, I have been actively exploring the various effects of accounting determinants on stock crash risk and have also been increasingly interested in exploring the potential of implementing accounting rules for cryptoassets and developing blockchain applications in accounting and auditing.

My research appears in well-respected scientific journals, such as The International Journal of Accounting (ABS 3), the Journal of Financial Stability (ABS 3), the European Journal of Finance (ABS 3), the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization (ABS 3) and the International Review of Financial Analysis (ABS 3), among others. I present actively my research at various conferences and have acted as invited speaker in research workshops. I have also delivered Accounting Seminars for professionals on topics of International Financial Reporting Standards and Consolidated Financial Statements. Please, do not hesitate to contact me regarding potential collaboration within the fields of research that I mention above, or to express your interest to undertake a PhD under my supervision.
