Biography

George Michalopoulos is an Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. His previous academic positions include: Senior Research Fellowship at the Department of European Studies of the University of Bradford, UK (1993-95); Visiting Assistant Professor, Dept. of Accounting, Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (1995-2001); Lecturer, City Liberal Studies College in Thessaloniki, affiliated to the University of Sheffield (1995-2001).

He has taught several undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Macedonia including: Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International Trade and Investments, Economic and Monetary Policy, International Financial Markets, European Monetary Integration, International Banking, Working Capital Management, at the undergraduate level; International Finance, Bank management, and, Financial Institution and Markets and, Short-term Capital Management at the postgraduate level.

His research interests and publications are in the area of International Financial Markets, European Monetary & Financial Integration, European Banking and, Business Finance in the European Financial Environment. His publications include journal papers (eg. in Journal of European Public Policy, International Journal of Economics and Business Administration, International Journal of Business and Economics Perspectives, Industry and Higher Education, Journal of Financial Management and Analysis), chapters in edited books and, papers in conference proceedings.
